Adelaide’s own Neon Tetra is a colourful band—perhaps more so than the small fish they take their name from—and they’ve got a new single to present to the musical world. ‘Reflections’ shows their psychedelic groove rock sound morph to a more mellow state, yet their music still heavily features the synthy, rhythmic goodness Neon Tetra is known for. Yes, the drums and lyrics have changed considerably but it’s a firm step forward for the band; they’ve even woven in some sweet, sweet saxophone for extra bliss.

With an energetic start to 2017, the boys released their EP, Dos back in February, going on to support the likes of Miami Horror, The Belligerents, Ecca Vandal and APES. The release of ‘Reflections’ just keeps the ball rolling, and the music video is a piece of art in itself. It’s awkwardly adorable in the same way Teletubbies is. We just hope that those costumes come out at their single launch.

Neon Tetra have created the kind of song you listen to when driving in summer with the windows down, while the sunset throws some orange and purple across the sky and, somehow, it all feels like it’s in slow motion. It’s perfection with a little bit of retro.
