Celebrating its 19th season, Melbourne’s original and favourite night market returns to Queen Victoria Market (QVM) from 16 November. The Summer Night Market (SNM) brings an array of seasonal food and entertainment offerings including unique food options, deliciously refreshing drinks and a buzzing summer atmosphere to enjoy the various live music on offer.
New this season is the inclusion of themed nights, with opening night kicking off the Summer Night Market in style taking on a Disco Funk theme. The free music and roving entertainment offering includes Tek Tek Ensemble, performing virtuosic and original music inspired by tropical jungles. That Gold Street Band, a funk and soul party band from Melbourne, The Everymen, a combo of piano and drums blended throughout a bottomed blues vibe and James Kenyon, who threads narrative through music to re-tell Australian stories.
New food offerings at this year’s Summer Night Market at QVM, includes taste sensations from around the globe. Be the first in Melbourne on opening night to try 400 Gradi’s pizza pockets, Trapizzino, delivered to SNM goers directly from Rome, or sit back in style in the Pimm’s Garden where the summer English classic will be served along with delectable strawberries and cream.
Taki’s Balls are back, the first modern flavoured loukoumada stall to hit the streets of Melbourne or check out the addition of Forbidden Apples, fresh apples sourced from the lush Yarra Valley, which are dipped in soft, homemade gooey caramel and finally coated in delicious combinations of decadent sweets.
The Moroccan Kitchen by MJR Tom with its specially commissioned Moroccan mural backdrop and open air BBQ sets a scene, prepared from fresh ingredients and made on the spot.
Drinks will be flowing by the plenty with major sponsor, Coopers serving a limited edition Amber Ale just for the occasion. Cheeky Rascal Cider will have a dedicated Frozen Cider Bar from 7 December, featuring their Strawberry and Pear Cider and Apple Cider, which is sure to be a hit on those warm summer nights.
