It’s a beautiful thing when music and fashion can come together, and if you’re a fan of Joy Division or New Order you’ll be able to get just that. Dr. Martens is about to release two limited edition versions of the ‘1460 8-Eye Boot’ in celebration of Britain’s musical legacy and the brand’s ongoing connection to music and subcultures. Dr. Martens has collaborated with Joy Division and the group that rose out of their ashes, New Order—two of UK’s most influential groups of all time.
Two iconic album covers designed by Peter Saville—Unknown Pleasures (Joy Division) and Power, Corruption & Lies (New Order)—feature across the two limited edition versions of the 1460 boot, creating wearable art that transcends music.
80 lines traverse the pitch-black cover of Joy Division’s 1979 album Unknown Pleasures, inspired by a sound landscape. The image was quickly adopted as a pop-cultural icon by the post-punk generation. Dr. Martens has embossed the design onto a classic black leather boot, finished with a contrast white heel-loop and AirWair sole.
New Order’s 1983 Power, Corruption & Lies cover art features an oil painting of flowers by Fantin-Latour. Dr. Martens has printed them onto Cristal Suede leather to give the illusion of an antique canvas. The boot is completed with tonal pink heel-loop and bouncing sole.
The DR. MARTENS X JOY DIVISION and DR. MARTENS X NEW ORDER collection will be available via drmartens.com.au and in selected stores from late July.
